Two Fargo Players Win Big |

 Barry Schmiess and Gina Bushey (pictured) of Fargo won big recently. Barry will soon be seeing himself on TV as he recently finished in 5th place at the Heartland Poker Tour event held this past weekend at the new Running Aces card room in Columbus, MN. For his efforts Barry will take home a nice paycheck of $19,400 after emerging from a Main Event field of 226 players. This is the first HPT event held at the Running Aces location but the turnout was great with over 700 players playing in qualifiers held over a 10-day span and generating a 1st place prize of $97,000!! |

Local Players cash big at HPT event |

The Heartland Poker Tour event that took place at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs saw a multitude of local players cash big in the Main Event held on Sunday, September 21st. Fargo-Moorhead was very well represented along with players from Grand Forks and Bismarck also cashing nicely.
Dan Lawrence of Bismarck made the TV table and finished in 3rd place taking home a payday of over $25,000!! Just missing the TV table were Andrew Burnham (Moorhead) finishing 8th for $8572, Jon Shilling (Fargo) getting 9th for $7144 and Chad Ransom taking 11th for $4858.
Also cashing in this event were Rodger Johnson (Grand Forks) getting 16th and Don Eagen (Moorhead) getting 17th both for $2429. Alison Kelley (Fargo) and Ron Olson finished 21st and 25th respectively taking home $1943 apiece for their efforts. Paul Hopman (Emerado, ND) took 29th and Glen Bucholz (Detroit Lakes, MN) took 30th to round out the top 30 players earning $1572 each. |

The 2008 World Series of Poker is essentially over except for the final table of the $10,000 Main Event. The "November Nine" as they are calling them will return later this year to compete for the $9.1 million dollar 1st place prize.
Several area players had some nice cashes in this WSOP but none more than Cody Slaugbaugh from Rugby, ND.... |
